A Father's Worry Comes Early :(

Been pretty busy lately, but something happened about 1 to 2 weeks back that I thought worth posting. Here goes...

My 4 year old daughter came back from childcare & announced that 3 boys in her school wanted to marry her!! This is not fair! I should have a good 20+ years more to go before I have to deal with this! :( Well, she seemed pretty pleased with herself when she broke the news to me. This cannot be happening *groan*.

It did provide a light moment of reprieve from the day's schedule & happenings, but it also reminded me of a father's worry over his daughters -- BOYS! Like someone once told me, "If you have a boy, you worry about a boy. If you have a girl, you worry about all the boys in the world". Well said, well said....

Sibling Expectations

There was an unexpected problem that came with the twins -- my daugther wanted younger sisters, not younger brothers :(.

Initially, this was not the problem. The first problem was, she wanted to be the baby of the family. So, before we knew the gender of the twins (actually, we didn't even know we had twins then :P) we asked her if she wanted a baby brother or a baby sister. She said she wanted an older sister :O!! That was an unexpected reaction from her! Guess she wanted all the attention she could get as the baby. *sigh*

This was something that my wife & I had not counted on. We had to spend more than a month to slowly get her to come round to accepting the role of a big sister. After we managed to do that, we had another round of coaxing to do.

We brought her along to one of the gynae visits so that she could see her younger siblings for herself & to let her know that she was going to have brothers. Turned out that she wasn't too interested in the ultrasound images. Well, I don't blame her really -- the black & white images probably just looked like random lines & dots to her. She did ask the gynae if he was going to cut open mummy's stomach right then to get the babies out :P.

Oh well... she now knows that she's gonna get brothers. Only thing is, she keeps bugging us (every other day & the boys are not due till mid-September 2005 at least!!) when the babies are coming out, cause she wants to play with them. Wait till she finds out the will be sleeping, crying, poo-pooing, drink milk & repeat; until they get past their first year before they are remotely 'fun'. I know I can wait!! When they come, I can say bye bye to uninterrupted sleep :P.

Hair Wash...

The wife just asked me to help wash her hair for her :(. Now this is something that is TOTALLY not my cup of tea!! Her tummy is getting pretty big now & it is pretty uncomfortable for her to bend forward over the sink to wash.

But how do I wash a woman's hair?!! Where do I even begin? :O

So, after tonight's bumbling session, my next assignment is to observe closely what the hairdresser does when she washes the wife's hair :(.

Guess what? We've got another 5 more months to go before the boys are born. Good luck to me :P.

The Boys Have Their Own 'Rooms' :P

During one of the regular checkup sessions, the gynaecologist showed us the faint outline of the chorion membrane surrounding each baby :). This means, that the risk of umbilical cord entanglement is greatly reduced :).
